Light Tutorial-Getting To Know Robhas1leftThere are many good photomanipulators who sort of get lost in the crowd at deviantArt, and it's very said when I think about it. One such person is robhas1left. I thought it was about time that more deviants get to know him in a personal way. In addition, he has written a tutorial on light and illumination in his deviations.
Q: What are your general personal thoughts about photo-manipulation.
I personally love the art of photo-manipulation! I have enjoyed and been engaged in some form of art most all of my life. I was born with a pencil in my hand. In photo-manipulations the images you begin with usually all differ in hue, contrast, exposure etc., and you have to adjust each one so that it fits seamlessly into a picture. The possibilities in photo-manipulation are only limited by the stocks you have and your imagination.
Q:. You're self-taught. Can you give us a history of your time at deviantArt as you progress in your photo-manipulation skill
Creating Space in Traditional ArtCreating the illusion of space
“Far beyond where the horizon lies, and the land sinks into mellow blueness...”
This lyric from one of my favorite songs in the Broadway musical “Godspell” is a great thing to keep in mind as we delve into the subject of creating space in two-dimensional art.
We know it's not really creating space; a two-dimensional surface occupies only a single plane. When we make an image, we are actually creating the illusion of space. This distinction prompted a playful piece from surrealist painter Rene Magritte, called “The Treachery of Images” ( you can look at the painting here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Treachery_of_Images ).
“This is not a pipe,” it declares; it is just a picture of a pipe. We will not be creating space; just an image of space --- an illusion.

Breaking in to Lit!Introduction
Literature has long been considered one of the closest knit communities on deviantART. As a result, some people find it difficult to "break in" to the Lit crowd. There are rumors of elitism, difficulty in getting exposure, and lack-luster appreciation for the incredible work that goes into writing a good piece of prose or a well structured poem.
If you look at a painting you can see amazing detail, great use of color, and the importance of the subject immediately. You know it came from the artist's imagination and that he or she had to spend hours translating that to a canvas. The tangibility of the work is right in front of you. With writing, it is not quite the same. The effort the author puts into the work can only be appreciated if readers put in their own effort to read the work. The gratification is not instant, which is one reason the lit community is so close knit.
Those who do have large followings often also comment and read quite a lot of work h
PE: Photomanip - Interview new photomanipulatorsPE: Photomanip - Interview With New Manipulators
Most of us have a special part of our hearts set aside for our first times and new beginnings. I remember myself how I felt when I completed my first manipulation, when I read the first tutorial and above all when I upload my first deviation. These deviants are at this point when things seem so new, but are staring to fall into place. They will share with us their first impressions on DA's PM community.
What drove you to become an artist? What inspires you to create
Well everybody who knows me will tell you I was born an artist. I have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. It's really just something I feel inside me, the one thing that is always certain in my life! Life inspires me. There are really

Project Educate: Photographing Your Crafts...
Photographing crafts is not as daunting as it seems. For those of you out there with amazing creative streaks in you, it isn't actually that difficult to take it one step further and put the effort into snapping your wonderful creations. It just takes a little planning, a camera and some creativity.
Rule Number One
Never ever ever ever ever Photograph something on your bed. Ever. I mean it! Your bed is for sleeping, and er, other things. But definitely not for placing your well constructed craft item upon, pointing your camera at, and pressing the button.
You might think I'm stating the obvious but seriously, the amount of people who think they'll just pop their item on the bed and take a picture...is..well..I don't have the statistics but there are many of Us!
Rule Number Two
Stay away from your cluttered up shelves and bits and pieces. Put your craft i
I'd like to introduce you to a fantastic group and tell you all about it!
dALinkSystem is a Group dedicated to increasing artists exposure, by helping others and themselves through a simple and effective "Linking" system.
"Link another artists submission in your artist's comment box. It helps everyone's exposure and finds undiscovered art."
The Link System was originated by TheFulkrum and myself (Echostar08), in May of 2009. What began with a few "Linkers" has grown into a large "Linkers Community" of caring deviants, who utilize The Link System to help increase their exposure, while helping others.
Linking can be done in as little as 5 minutes. It's simple to do and takes only a little extra time when you're submitting a deviation. The little bit of extra time you spend to personally choose and feature someone else's art in your artist's comment box (or in your deviation description), is ve
