Fan Art Week
Hi everyone! I'm Rachel and I really enjoy creating colorful, lively digital artwork.
For this tutorial I'd like to explain my general painting style process. I have a few different styles that I like to use depending on the subject or scene. This time I chose to do something more traditional in appearance, with the help of some customized brushes. Ready? Let's Go, Pinkachu!
Brushes
Special thanks to darekzabrocki (https://www.deviantart.com/darekzabrocki) for some of these custom brushes used in this tutorial!
I currently use Photoshop CS6 for my digital artwork. I like using Photoshop mostly for its Brush Preset features, as well as its wide variety of layer effects. P

The Top-Down Approach to Convincing OC Creation
Fan Art Week
Imagine this common scenario with me: "I just binge-watched (insert series here) and I love it! I am totally going to create my own OC in this 'verse!!! Fandom, here I come!!!"
But... I am sure we have all seen original characters that look… well, a little out of place despite being created for a specific fandom. Even if these characters aren’t exactly what one would call a "Mary Sue" or a "Gary Stu" (that’s a topic of another article completely), sometimes it’s still easy to pick out an OC from the lineup. It’s not just about the art style, either. Some artists mimic the original artwork so well t

Hi!
I'm going to show everyone my process on how I make my pixel art step by step. Before I start, I would like to say that I use Paint Tool Sai to draw my pixel art and PhotoShop for animations and enlarging my pixel art!
If this is your first time making pixel art, here is some info before you start. Pixel art is usually done on a really small canvas. There are different styles in making pixel art - from really detailed lineless work that has a painterly look, to simple cell shading, to pixel art with flat colors. It all depends on your preference, and that comes from continuously making pixel art. This tutorial will have sim

Coming Up With Fan Art Crossovers
Fan Art Week
The Appeal of Crossovers
Crossovers are a popular kind of fan art to create, as they allow artists to draw from two or more of their favourite things. Crossovers can be used to showcase an artist's love for both fandoms in a single artwork, or as a fun way to bring attention to similarities between two characters or aspects of a story. This can be a one-off artwork, or a series like my own Pottermon crossover artworks.
Coming Up with an Idea
The first step is simple: decide which games, tv shows, movies or other things you want to use in your crossover! I would strongly suggest choosing franchises that you know a lot about. For

Fan Art Week
Hello! In this article we'll overview what exactly constitutes Fan Art and how it will be handled in Eclipse, the new version of DeviantArt! For this we first need to define a few concepts.
Fan Art Vs Original Work
A common and simplified definition of Fan Art is:
"Artwork created by fans of a work of fiction such as comics, movies, television shows, books, video games, etc. and derived from a character or other aspect of that work."
So basically, art you create based on something that already exists. With this in mind, the most simple distinction between Fan Art and Original Work would be:

Stained Glass Style Tutorial - The Legend of Zelda
Fan Art Week
Hello DeviantArt! I’m long-time member Ranefea, or Ran, and lately I’ve become known for my stained glass style artworks, especially my The Legend of Zelda oriented fanart pieces.
For those unfamiliar, The Legend of Zelda is a long running action-adventure RPG video game series by Nintendo. Throughout its 30+ year run, this game series has seen many different visual styles, from anime, to cartoon, to cute-simplicity. The mid-2000’s brought us The Wind Waker, a Game Cube-era game that introduced what’s now known as the “toon” style for the series. This game and style also brought us some amazi

The Fandom song to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Welcome to the fandom world,

Watch out when the feels attack,

Welcome to the fandom world,
fanboys watch out for fangirls.
Hello everyoneI want to start off by introducing some terms to you, to help you become familiar with them.
First of all, what is a fandom?
It's when you love an actor or an actress, a singer, or a character in a movie or TV series and you can't imagine living without them. It's when you watch their shows, movies or listen to their songs repeatedly - as in a million times - you are a

Hi all, and welcome! :la:
A while back I took you all on a trip down the abstract and surreal photography category, today I am doing that same thing for fan art! As someone who doesn't know much about fan art, I decided to take the plunge and ask some victims friends to join me, and see what it's all about!
