Due to this HUGE selection we are going to spend a little time this week trying to highlight some common "miscats" and show you examples of what and where you should be submitting your work to make the most of its exposure and usefulness! There's no point in submitting your work if you're not going to place it where artists expect to be looking for it, which means the more you can "drill down" through the categories to place your image in the right one the more likely it is that other artists will find and use it!!Stock Photography - Model Sub cats. The Stock/model sub cate
Project Educate Stock & Resources DD CriteriaStock & Resources Daily Deviations. What We look for, and what you should look for as well! Its a regular question, and something that the other Community Volunteers get asked about as well. So during Project Educate Stock & Resources week I'm going to try and lay out some of the reasons behind our choices.Stock & Resources Daily Deviations, and how they are judged by the Community.Dan has already touched on this touchy subject in his "Potential" Article here - The Potential of StockThere is something fundamentally different about stock & resources DD's compared to all the other DD's from all the other galleries.Stock & Resources are NOT finished artworks to be viewed as an end product. We can't stress this enough!!! The Stock Artist/Provider/Creator has not submitted this work becasue they think its absolutely perfect and they want to show it off, they subm

PE Interview: Stocker, Night-Fate-Stock!:iconnight-fate-stock: ~night-fate-stock is the home of Julia, Shes based in the USA and has been sharing and creating stock and tutorials with the DA community for 5 years now. As part of our Stock & Resources Project Educate week, we tracked her down and asked her a few questions. What were your first artistic influences, and did they have a hand in the development of your resources? When I first picked up a point-and-shoot camera on a family vacation to Yellowstone in 2005, the world suddenly changed for me. I saw nature in a way that I never saw it before. I had joined deviantART a month earlier, and as I browsed the website I discovered stock photos, and because I was constantly shooting hundreds of photos, I thought that they would be useful stock photos, and so I created a stock account. Whats one of the most rewarding aspects for you as a resource provider? All the adventures I have experienced. It feels very rewarding and worth i
PE Interview: Stocker, Kirilee!:iconKirilee: *kirilee Is where you will find none other than Australia based Kirilee herself, in numerous disguises (Quite possibly holding something sharp and pointy!)!! We jumped a few time zones and got her to answer our questions for the Stock & Resources Project Educate Week. What were your first artistic influences, and did they have a hand in the development of your resources? To be honest, unlike most stock providers I am not coming from a visual art background. In fact, I'm not very good at drawing compared to others at all. However, I come from a performing background - theatre mainly, but a bit of dance too. For me, being a character is so freeing - though I go through dry spells when I'm not on stage. My friend told me one day about stock when complaining I hadn't played a character in a while and invited me to come and play with her for a day. Since then I have been hooked. I love sewing, putting together costumes and characters... it is just like performing
PE Article: Tips and Advice 'Renders'The stock gallery is full of what is known as Renders You may be asking yourself just what a Render is.Under the Stock and Resources Category is the following description.Resources & Stock>Stock Images>3D & Renders."Computer generated stock images"In terms of the Stock and Resources gallery, directly refers to the "rendering" of 3d digital work with the use of a render engine. Below is a little more info! From the prepared 3D scene, rendering is the final process of creating the actual 2D image. A great example of this process can be taking a photo or filming the scene after the setup is finished in real life. Several different, and often specialized, rendering methods have been developed. These range from the distinctly non-realistic wireframe rendering through polygon-based rendering, to more advanced techniques such as: scanline rendering, ray tracing, or radiosity. Rendering may take from fractions of a sec
PE Interview: Stocker, Lusete!:iconLusete: =lusete Lu is the lady behind the camera, the model in front of, and the mother of 2 beautiful daughters whom she has roped into modelling for her stock. We are assured there was no bribery involved, but we still aren't convinced! As a continuation of our Project Educate Stock & Resources week we sent her our short list of questions to answer. What were your first artistic influences, and did they have a hand in the development of your resources?I joined DeviantArt many years ago and was immediately taken by the photomanipulations. So many amazing works. I started doing some myself and I realised how hard was to find a specific pose or even good objects etc. This is when I took the decision to take my own stock photography. I studied photography at university so grabbing a camera and starting to shoot was not hard, although I was seriously rusty and needed to polish my capturing skills. Thankfully I have 2 daughters that are more than happy to model
