Project Educate - Transport Photography Project Educate: Transport Photography Vintage Cars I was trying hard to think where I could find a nice collection of Vintage Car images when I suddenly remembered #Vintagenic a lovely group that was brought to my attention sometime ago by *Kezzi-Rose It's a fantastic group if you are into Vintage Photography but in particular there is a wonderful Vintage Car Gallery that is definitely worth a browse. When photographing Vintage cars you can enhance the look by processing the image afterwards to add a dusky glow or hue. But in general vintage cars are often the subject of fashion, glamour and transportation Photography because they look different to the norm. Through design and decades, the car has morphed from a utility to a well designed sculpture. So it is often debated and mused over the best way to showcase the beautiful machines with just a camera
Project Educate: Transport Photography Project Educate: Transport Photography Photographing Cars Car Photography Tip "Park your car on clean pavement. DO NOT photograph it parked on grass, unless perhaps your car is an off-road 4x4, or if you want it to look like an abandoned vehicle. Another splendid tip: use your garden hose or take along a 5-gallon (or 20 liter) container of water to wet down the entire area where you're going to position your car; this darkens the pavement and provides a "glistening" highlight effect." Project Educate: Transport (Trams) Trams A tram can be also known as a streetcar/tramcar or trolley car and it is a passenger rail vehicle which runs on tracks along public urban streets and also sometimes on separate rights of way. (Gotta love Wikipedia!) They are lighter and shorter than standard trains but some might run on ordinary railway tracks - which is a tad confusing. They are mostly photographed within street scenes and one of the largest networks of Trams in the world is located in Vienna. As with all vehicle photography you can get creative with selective coloring, motion blur and photo-manipulation. Project Educate: Military Transport Military Transport When Photographing Military Vehicles it is important to know and understand the restrictions that could be in place. For the most part, we can freely snap away at the different kinds of vehicles we see but in some countries and areas it is forbidden to take a picture of military property - cars included. The best things about these sorts of vehicles is that you don't need to curse reflections or polish up the car first! Project Educate: Artist Spotlight Dmack Project Educate Spotlight: ~dmack Transportation Photography often falls under lots of other categories which is why as a stand alone area it can be overlooked. But Transportation includes all kinds of vehicles and roads and ~dmack's gallery has a nice selection of all these things.Capturing the famous Yellow Taxi is a prime example of transportation photography - scenes like this can often be considered Street or Urban Cityscapes.I also find it very intriguing to learn about the different sorts of transport floating around and in particular ~dmack captures this with the above very lucky shot of a camel side by side with what most of us recognise as a regular form of transport!
Project Educate: Transport Photography DDsAcross the photography galleries there is the potential for transportation to appear in almost everything. Project Educate: Capturing BoatsDon't be misled by the title - you're not going to start embarking on Pirate based adventures! Whilst Photographing Transport can be fairly straight forward, like any genre of Photography there are tips and tricks out there to get the best results. Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows...Pick a sunny day! If you want to capture the postcard shot of colourful boats lined up, reflecting in the water while a bright blue sky frames them from behind you'll have to head out on a sunny day when there's not much of a breeze in the air so the water's still. Make sure you use a polarising filter to saturate the colours and enhance the sky. They can be fairly cheap. For UK based people Warehouse Express is a fantastic online shopping experience But Where's The Sea? If you get to the harbour and find the tide is out don't think you need to head for fish and chips while the water trickles back in. Instead, photograph the boats which are now st

Project Educate: Capturing MotionGetting shots of the world in motion is often considered quite a tricky art. However the times when I've managed that interesting motion capture have been pure fluke! But to set up with the intention of capturing motion especially where transport is concerned takes a little time and some helpful tips. The most obvious and often forgotten technique that everybody knows but doesn't always put into practice is to position ahead of your targets intentioned path. Don't try and follow the moving object, predict a bit and get ready to capture it moving into frame. Otherwise you have the potential to be there..forever.With regards to motorboats and people skiing or stunt cars, it's best to aim to shoot the action rather than the build up. Focus on getting that opportune moment! It's vital when shooting action that you capture the motion for the final product. Setting sports mode on your camera will give you the chance to captu
