DARK ART EVOLUTION
This article is about development of dark art as artistic style and changes in this style during last 10 years. To show how far we've come, and to challenge artists to keep experimenting.
First deviations submitted to dark category, really few per month, artworks evidently related to gothic subculture, pale-coloured, characteristic for that period equal sharpness of foreground an background.
Very close to the previous period, also mostly pale-coloured art that has obvious gothic elements in it, but with much better blending, painted elements start to appear.
Digital tablets became more popular during this time, which led to an increase in experimenting with painted elements. This year is also when the experiments began - artists tried new colours, worked harder on the concept and details.
Year, when painted elements were extremely popular, seemed everybody wanted to achieve painted look, with or without a tablet. Artists started to use much more saturated colours for dark art. Also, the usage of back light was a very popular characteristic during this time.
The trend of painting elements decreased and thus led to a balance between realistic and painted dark manipulations. Artists also begin to loosen up in terms of colour choice and the use of Gothic elements returned in unique ways.
Artists continued with the amazing techniques seen in 2010 while pushing forward with being more mindful of detailing and composition.
Dark art is in bloom. Fantastic variety of different approaches to the style, much attention to details and technical components of the image, more evident mixes with other genres, and the results are incredible!
2013 marks the year when realism gained in popularity and the quality of stock photos increased. It was also during 2013 the overall quality of manipulations increased with a surge in the usage of textures and special effects. Throughout this year artists realize technique alone will not captivate viewers and thus focus more on the message of their individual pieces.
